ABOUT THE AUTHOR

John H. Austin, Jr. was born March 11, 1934 in Boise, Idaho, to John and Mabel Austin. He was the second born, first was Dollie, who occasionally is the culprit in some of the stories of his youth, and then there was Dean (who died as a young child,) the younger sister, Glenda, then LeRoy who was the last born.

The family moved to the Idaho Falls were engaged in farming during John’s younger years, then on to Salmon, Idaho, for more farming and ranching where John writes of his many experiences. Many of the stories are written in a humorous manner with his peculiar brand of humor which his friends seem to understand and enjoy. Although all of the stories are based on actual happenings, some are embellished a bit; you will be able to tell the difference.

These books are filled with short stories, complete in their own, which have been written over a period of fifteen years or so. Many are written so you understand just what that little boy was thinking when he was engaged in some of his escapades. I am sure these stories will bring back many memories to those who grew up in his era.

John has done a multitude of different jobs and hobbies and has excelled in all. He and his wife Myrna and partners Sandie and Loyd Todd, have been in business together for over forty years. Each couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2005.
